Thank you for choosing to have a procedure with Katy Pain and Spine and allowing our renowned, board-certified physicians aid you in your journey to pain relief.
Please review the following information prior to your procedure.
Pre-operative Instructions
Bathe and Eat
You may bathe and eat normally on the morning of your procedure. However, refrain from eating or drinking for two hours prior to your scheduled procedure time.
Blood Thinner Medication
Please inform the pre-operative staff if you are taking any blood thinner medications such as Eliquis, Xarelto, Coumadin, Aspirin, Plavix Effient, Brilinta, Pradaxa. Some procedures cannot be performed unless you stop these medications prior (under the direction of your physician), and this will have been addressed with you at your pre-operative clinic visit.
Designated driver
We strongly recommend that you bring an adult driver on the day of your procedure.
If you choose to receive sedation, your driver must be over 18 years of age and stay in our lobby during your procedure time, ride-sharing services such as Uber or Lyft WILL NOT serve as a substitute for a friend/relative over 18 years of age (this is for your safety).
Dress code
Wear comfortable loose clothing, preferably with an elastic waist. Avoid wearing Jeans or Jewelry.
Duration of the procedure
Make arrangements to stay approximately 90 minutes for your procedure. Though most procedures typically take less than 15 minutes to perform, time will be needed for paperwork and monitoring both prior to and after your procedure.
Infections and antibiotics
If you have an active infection or are on antibiotics to treat an active infection within 10 days of your procedure, please call our office at 713-714-7192 to reschedule your procedure.
Personal effects
Leave all valuables with your chaperone. (These include money, jewelry, watches, credit cards, cellphones or any other electronic device). No cellphones are allowed in the procedure area.
Sedation
You may be offered sedation for your procedure.
Please note, YOU WILL NOT BE ‘PUT TO SLEEP’ for your procedure. Most people are very comfortable with the sedation given in addition to the local anesthetic (“numbing medication”) used during the injection. Some people choose not to receive sedation at all, and only receive local anesthetic (“numbing medication”) prior to the injection. Again, you must have a responsible adult accompany you and remain in our facility if you wish to receive sedation.
